Negative-energy Spinors and the Fock Space of Lattice Fermions at Finite Chemical Potential (revised)

چکیده
Recently it was suggested that the problem of species doubling with Kogut-Susskind lattice fermions entails, at finite chemical potential, a confusion of particles with an-tiparticles. What happens instead is that the familiar correspondence of positive-energy spinors to particles, and of negative-energy spinors to antiparticles, ceases to hold for the Kogut-Susskind time derivative. To show this we highlight the role of the spinorial " energy " in the Osterwalder-Schrader reconstruction of the Fock space of non-interacting lattice fermions at zero temperature and nonzero chemical potential. We consider Kogut-Susskind fermions and, for comparison, fermions with an asymmetric one-step time derivative.

Luttinger liquids with boundaries: Power-laws and energy scales
We present a study of the one-particle spectral properties for a variety of models of Luttinger liquids with open boundaries. We first consider the Tomonaga-Luttinger model using bosonization. For weak interactions the boundary exponent of the power-law suppression of the spectral weight close to the chemical potential is dominated by a term linear in the interaction. This motivates us to study...
متن کاملPhase structures of strong coupling lattice QCD with overlap fermions at finite temperature and chemical potential
We perform the first study of lattice QCD with overlap fermions at finite temperature T and chemical potential μ. We start from the Taylor expanded overlap fermion action, and derive in the strong coupling limit the effective free energy by mean field approximation. On the (μ, T ) plane and in the chiral limit, there is a tricritical point, separating the second order chiral phase transition li...
متن کاملOn global classical solutions of the time-dependent von Neumann equation for Hartree-Fock systems
This paper is concerned with the well-posedness analysis of the Hartree-Fock system modeling the time evolution of a quantum system comprised of fermions. We consider quantum states with finite mass and finite kinetic energy, and the self-consistent potential is the unbounded Coulomb interaction. This model is first formulated as a semi-linear evolution problem for the one-particle density matr...
متن کاملSymplectic Dirac-Kähler Fields
For the description of space-time fermions, Dirac-Kähler fields (inhomogeneous differential forms) provide an interesting alternative to the Dirac spinor fields. In this paper we develop a similar concept within the symplectic geometry of phase-spaces. Rather than on space-time, symplectic Dirac-Kähler fields can be defined on the classical phasespace of any Hamiltonian system. They are equival...
متن کاملHamiltonian lattice quantum chromodynamics at finite density with Wilson fermions
Quantum chromodynamics (QCD) at sufficiently high density is expected to undergo a chiral phase transition. In Lagrangian SU(3) lattice gauge theory, the standard approach breaks down at large chemical potential μ, due to the complex action problem. (QCD at large μ is of particular importance for neutron star or quark star physics). The Hamiltonian formulation of lattice QCD doesn’t encounter s...
